Please read these terms carefully before using Certeo. By using the app, you agree to them.

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using Certeo ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. These terms are a legal agreement between you and Certeo. We may update them at any time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

2. Use of service

Certeo is an independent study tool for the NASCLA Commercial General Building Contractor Examination. You answer practice questions organized by topic, and the App tracks your readiness score and quiz history locally on your device.

You agree to:

  • Use the App only for your own personal exam preparation
  • Not reverse engineer, modify, decompile, or redistribute the App or its question content
  • Not copy, scrape, or republish the App's question bank
  • Not use the App for any unlawful purpose

You must be at least 13 years old to use Certeo. If you are under 18, use the App with the knowledge of a parent or guardian.

3. NASCLA affiliation & no pass guarantee

Certeo is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NASCLA (National Association of State Contractors Licensing Agencies).

  • "NASCLA" is used only in a descriptive, nominative sense to identify the exam Certeo helps you study for — Certeo is not NASCLA's product and does not claim to be.
  • Questions in Certeo are original content, independently authored against the public NASCLA Candidate Bulletin topic outline. They are not copied from NASCLA's proprietary exam bank or any other copyrighted exam-prep material.
  • Certeo does not guarantee that you will pass the NASCLA Commercial GC exam or obtain any contractor license. Exam content, format, and passing standards are set by NASCLA and the relevant state licensing boards, which can change independently of this App.
  • Always verify current exam requirements, fees, and reciprocity rules directly with NASCLA and your state's contractor licensing board before relying on any information in this App.

4. User content

Certeo does not require you to submit photos, documents, or other personal content. Your quiz answers and progress are generated by your use of the App and stored locally on your device, as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. No account required

Certeo does not use accounts or login. Your quiz history and readiness score live on your device; you can reset all progress at any time in Settings, or delete the App to remove all locally stored data.

6. Data & privacy

Your use of Certeo is also governed by our Privacy Policy. In short: no account is required; your quiz history stays on your device; we collect limited anonymous analytics events (via PostHog) with no personal or contact information; and we do not sell your data.

7. Purchases

  • Certeo offers a free tier: 25 questions across 2 of the 10 topics.
  • Full Access is a one-time, non-consumable purchase of $24.99 — it is not a subscription and does not renew or charge again.
  • Purchases are billed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's terms.
  • If you reinstall the App or use it on a new device signed into the same Apple ID, use "Restore Purchase" in Settings to restore Full Access.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple per their refund policy — Certeo cannot issue refunds directly.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Certeo is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • We do not guarantee that using the App will result in passing any exam or obtaining any license.
  • We are not liable for any licensing, employment, or financial decision made based on the App.
  • We are not responsible for data loss due to device failure, accidental deletion, app deletion, or circumstances beyond our control — since quiz data is stored locally only, we cannot recover it if your device data is lost.
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the preceding 12 months.

You agree to use the App at your own risk.

9. Intellectual property

All content, features, and functionality of Certeo — including the question bank, explanations, source citations, text, graphics, logos, and software — are the property of Certeo/Openverse and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. "NASCLA" and "NASCLA Candidate Bulletin" are referenced descriptively and remain the property of their respective owners.

10. Changes to terms

We may revise these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated in the App. The "Last updated" date above indicates the latest revision. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
