Certeo is a NASCLA Commercial GC exam prep app. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what we collect, what stays on your device, and what we never do.

The short version

  • No account or login is required to use Certeo.
  • Your quiz history, answers, and readiness score are stored locally on your device — we do not have a server that stores your study data.
  • We collect limited, anonymous product-usage analytics (via PostHog) to understand how the app is used and fix bugs — never your name, exam date, or any contact information.
  • We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

1. Who we are

Certeo is operated by Openverse. If you have questions about this policy, email us at [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.

2. What we collect

No account information

Certeo does not have accounts, sign-in, or a server-side user profile. There is nothing to register and nothing tied to your name or email address inside the app itself.

Quiz history and readiness score (stored locally only)

Every question you answer, your topic-by-topic readiness score, and your streak are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device except as part of an iOS/iCloud device backup you control — Certeo itself does not transmit it to any server.

Product usage analytics

We use PostHog to collect anonymous, aggregate analytics events — for example, when a round starts, when a purchase completes, or when a notification permission is granted or denied. These events are tied to an app-generated, anonymous identifier, not to your name, email, exam date, or any other personal or contact information. We use this data only to understand feature usage and fix problems.

Purchase information

The Full Access unlock ($24.99 one-time) is processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to verify your purchase and manage entitlement status using an anonymous subscriber identifier. Neither RevenueCat nor Certeo can access your credit card or billing details — that information never leaves Apple.

What we do NOT collect

  • Your name, email address, or any contact information
  • Your location or GPS data
  • Your contacts, camera roll, or microphone
  • Advertising identifiers (we do not run ads)
  • Any health data

3. How we use data

We use the limited data described above only to:

  • Provide the service: deliver quiz content and track your entitlement to Full Access.
  • Improve the app: understand aggregate feature usage and fix bugs, via anonymous PostHog analytics.

We never use analytics data for advertising or marketing profiling, and we never sell your data.

4. Who we share data with

We rely on a small number of trusted service providers:

  • PostHog — anonymous product analytics events (no personal or contact information).
  • RevenueCat — purchase/entitlement management using an anonymous subscriber identifier.
  • Apple — App Store distribution and payment processing.

We do not sell, rent, or license your data to anyone, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.

5. Data retention & deletion

Your quiz history and readiness score live only on your device. You can reset all local progress at any time from Settings → Reset All Progress in the app, or simply delete the app to remove all locally stored data. Because there is no account or server-side profile, deleting the app removes your quiz data completely. To ask about anonymous analytics data associated with your device's app-generated identifier, email [email protected].

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because Certeo stores your study data locally and does not maintain accounts, most of these rights are already in your control directly in the app (Settings → Reset All Progress). For anything else, email [email protected]. If you are in the EU/UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

7. Children's privacy

Certeo is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

Data kept on your device is protected by your device's hardware encryption and passcode/biometric lock. We will notify you of any breach that affects your personal data as required by law.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Certeo after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
